Using ajax on pages as "admincp" kind of loses the point of having a "AdminCP" when you do it on the forum.

Its best to do everything via Admincp, as you can protect the folder, where as if you have ajax on pages within the forum, how can you protect that, say a user got admin. Your screwed.

Vb, Invisionfree is free but Invision does another Board that you have to pay forIPB (Invision Power Board) IPB is meant to be good. I have only ever used fVB never seen a forum on IBP so i guess VB for me.

If a user got admin rights theyed be able to use the ACP anyway, so it doesn't make any difference o.0 plus htaccess doesn't work for internal queries.

Anyway this is a stupid comparison.
VB is a full forum software.
Invisionfree is a remotely hosted, limited functionary forum, based on forum software released nearly 4 years ago now.

If you compare the latest IPB in a none limited forum, it mops the flaw with VB in pretty much every aria.

Well not really when you can rename it and password protect via cpanel and other ways which cant be "bypassed" easy.

Where as on the forum if there's admin features they can.

It's all personal preference and we could all argue for hours over which would win... but obviously most people on this forum don't mind vB as that is what the forum runs on

But anyways - in my opinion vB wins hands down. I used to use IPB for my board but after I realized just how slow and chunky it is I switched

I think vBulletin is still better than IPB 2.2 even though it does have a few nice features which vBulletin will include in the future version but looking 100 times better off course.

Say one thing which is designed better on vBulletin :p All of the vB stuff is awfully coded, awfully designed, they only recently switched to OOP after complaints. I hate the main vB skin aswell. IPB wins hands down IMO.

And when IP.Dynamic and IP.Nexus come out, more people will make the switch...

IPB are good boards. They come out with things first and vB slowly track behind e.g. Quick Reply, adding multiple quotes etc.

    Also, IPB forums aren't slow?

No there not, they are extremely quick. I think when someone says IPB, people immediately think, oo IPB 1.3, which was 4 nearly 5 years ago guys, they do have 2.3 nearly out now, which is all about speed improvements
