I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this oneTrue, but seriously... it's old. And thats pretty much the reason that it is influential. They were just at the start of this whole music revolution. There wasen't much to turn to.
And The Beatles alone had almost as many songs as everything from the 90's put together on the Rolling Stone "500 Greatest Songs" list, classic rock wasen't that great.![]()
Rolling Stone is garbage.
I mean they put cobain #12 on the 100 greatest guitarists. While eddie van halen was down at 70, randy rhoads at 85 and kim thayil at 100.
I think there picking random guitarists and sorting them in random order.:S
As for classic rock over rated, thats your opinion, and i'm fine with that but alot of classic rock bands have more talent than most of today's bands.
Disagree. Today's bands are just as talented as older bands, many of the best and most creative bands are making music as we speak. They're just not on the radio and being played and being recognized.Rolling Stone is garbage.

dire straits?
it actually doesn't get any more lame than that.
scratch below the surface and you'll find music that's just as good and better as anything released 30 or 40 years ago. most of the "classic rock" bands only really became extremely popular after they split up, anyway. the top 40 is designed for young audiences and therefore tends to suck.
yeh, i read the above about indie labels, and that's how it makes a band indie.lol @ you missing the fact i just called Justin Timberlake heavy metal and went to Green Day. yeah, i was making a joke, i was just testing people's reactions.
The same reason every genre sounds the same. You're just hearing what's on the radio; Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand etc. These are just indie bands that have a much more accessible and radio-friendly style and are much more commonly known, but certainly do not speak for the entire indie genre. Listen to rap on the radio, it sounds all the same. But anyone can tell you that what's on the radio really isnt what the whole genre is like.
it makes sense now :]
i retract my previous statements
You clearly fail if you say dire straits is lame, I admit: some of the bands out are quite good, but there's no "wow" bands like queen or led zeppelin out anymoredire straits?
