How come 3rd meal of the day is called 'tea'

I don't call it tea, I call it dinner.

Breakfast > Lunch > Dinner

i call it tea or dinner, i never say supper though.

i only say it because it's what everyone in my house says. for instance i call the remote the "tv box" or "the box" because everyone in my house does and otherwise people would get confused or w/e.
