    i'd still use resitors on the leds better safe then sorry. you always remove them later if they reduce the power to much.

    ah okay so I remember now

    You create a gameboard layout on the computer using little squares and images and stuff.
    Print it off and stick it to an a4 size mdf
    Mark 2 holes in random squares (pick some random squares that will be important in the game and two marks in each that are relatively close together) and single holes outside the game path where you want the LEDs to be.
    The hole couples in the squares will be your squares that activate the LEDs.
    Drill through the LED holes and for the activation holes hammer some nails in. These nails will act like part of a switch and when the counter piece (which will have a conductor as its base) moves over them the circuit will be complete forcing certain lights to glow.
    It was really simple and turned out okay for a beginners job

    Its kinda lame but it is just something to do You can get creative with it too.
