Okay so last week I asked the guy i've loved for sixteen months now out. We've been friends for about a year and I think he had a pretty good idea I liked him and he seemed to like me too. He waited for about ten seconds looking uncertain and then said 'no, sorry'. I was really upset and hid in the cloakbay bathroom for about two hours. I spoke to him on MSN after school that afternoon and he said to me he didn't want to go out with anyone at the moment and promised me he'd reject anyone who asked him out and that he wouldn't ask out anyone for at least 3 months. He also said that I should be happy that we're friends and that nobody knew what the future held for us.
Five days later, I arrived at school. It seemed normal. The guy I loved [Adam[ and I were talking as friends. At lunch break, I noticed everyone crowding in the other accelerate classroom. When I walked into the room I heard someone say 'Hannah' and then I heard my friend Jacky say 'you gave it away'. I was confused so I left. Anyhow after lunch my friend Kerryn came up to me and said, 'I have bad news for you, Hannah. Adam asked out Charlotte [who happens to be my worst enemy].' I got mad. If we were friends why had he lied to me like he did, and attempted to hide it from me? I questioned him after school and he told me that it was a set-up and that my mate Anna who is Charlotte's best friend had just got a boyfriend didn't want Charlotte to be a loner and asked Adam a favour, to ask her out. He asked me as a friend not to tell anyone it was a setup and I never did. She said no anyway so that was over.
Two days later, everything was normal again, but at 1pm I found out that sometime before school that morning he had asked out Caroline [I will explain about Caroline on another thread sometime, it's a long, lost story] who liked him also. Again he asked everybody not to tell me about them but again Kerryn, being the loyal friend she is, told me anyway. He never apologized, though Caroline did. This time it wasnt a set up. He had liked her for ages. I am speaking to him on MSN now, and he's acting like everything's normal and that he never promised me anything. And guess what his MSN name is?
'Im in love with a dream come true'.
I'm so heartbroken...

The boy i fancy asked out my best mate... and yeh its really tough for me cause i have to act like i don't fancy him or anything now because they are going out and it upsets me when she talks to me about what they do together and all...its heart breaking but i have to move on and live with it..im trying to get over him..

Awww I am so sorry you've been hurt. I remember my first love like it was yesterday. The anxiety, the excitement, my mood swings, sometimes up and sometimes down. This guy lied to you, and I think he is a coward for not being straight with you. Would you really want to date someone with that type of personality? I'm guessing he is the popular guy at school! So he has his choice of females. Imagine dating him and always fearing how long it will last before he moves onto his next girlfriend. Young love is so hard at times, would you really want to put yourself in that position? Sixteen months is a long time to really like someone
For me it was longer, but I kept my secret to myself. A few years later would you believe he asked me out, sadly for him my taste had changed :p
Move on, open your eyes I'm sure there is someone with a much nicer personality
