Yeah they are considering it. The law also puts on lots of other restrictions too, that are really stupid and contradictory of other government policies. For example, there are times (if you are under a certain age) that you are not allowed to carry passengers in your car. Of course, isn't this discouraging car sharing?! Which the government says you should do to prevent too much pollution from our cars.

I dislike this country muchly at the moment. I was discussing with a woman at my church (not religious btw) that they may aswell scrap most the rules, suffer 3 years of hell then when people realise how boring they are now, peace will be restored. Rules are there and people live by them being broken. Chavs probably exist because of this. They wish to rebel.

I think it's good that they'll raise the driving age because a lot of teens are immature & when they have nothing to do they turn dumb. Seriously. It's better we keep them off the road till they understand how to be mature. Also, teens who drop out shouldn't be able to drive until education is finished.

I think the driving age to drive alone has been changed here like 18. But you can get your driver's license at 16, like I have but you must drive with an adult. I'm not sure if the 18 thing is true but I've heard they want to change it so... yeah. Some people are saying even 19 or 20 but what happens when you're 18, in college & need to go places. You have to take a bus? Most college students are broke considering tuition, etc. So, yeah.

this is all crazy, of all the friends I have (most are 16) who drive, i'd say a SMALL part of them drive irresponsibly, as older people do to.

well it's impossible to deny that 16 & 17 year olds drive more irresponsibly than adults. and 13 is way, way, way too young to start driving, sorry.

18 year olds are worse "/ They have more free time because college (or equivilent) has ended and you now have a long summer holiday which means more playing about until uni (if you go). 17 is a good age to learn, you're busy with learning for a start. Learning at 18 is just as bad as learning at 17, even though I only hear of 18 year olds crashing their cars.
