Default +rep Xbox Live Connection Help

Okay so i moved the PC upstairs to my bedroom and its connected to the internet Wirelessly with a Belkin Wireless USB adapter. Ive now also moved my xbox upstairs to my room and want to get the xbox Live working on it.
Ive tried connecting it via ethernet cable so 1 end in PC the other end in Console but it comes up as

    Network Adapter: Wired
    IP Address: Failed

Is there any way i can get it to work?

    +rep to all suggestions

There is a way, but that means getting a 40m Ethernet cable and drilling holes everywere.

Trust me, the Network Adapter is the best option

It's possible but you need to set up a Windows Internet Sharing Passport thing.

plug the ethernet cable into the router and into the xbox - it's too complicated if you plug it in the pc.
