I think I'm going to include Eamonn's twist into my original plan, as for the "closest" part my closest friends are the guys thats why I want two different parties, well one can't be classed as a party as we are just going to go to a pub and have a few drinks - quality time.

Are the friends you want to go to the pub also 18?

You have to bare that in mind. It won't be much fun for the under 18s when the over 18s are drinking.

What about renting out somewhere and having an open bar? Although you'd have to consider asking people to chip in for the cost of it all.

I'm in New York for my 18th, even though I won't be able to have my first proper pint until I'm home I'm still looking forward to it.
