Actually, the meeting isn't pointless... When things like this go well, they do well... and normally loads of ideas are suggested, however - Most people were great in there, but the minority of people wouldn't shut up - constantly speaking and continuing to annoy even when we told them not too... So, easier to close the room instead of constantly asking them to behave.

I think it should be done by invite not by people randomly requesting to go in. Invite publicly for a week then find out who was good and who was annoying. Then when you have descided, invite the good ones privately.
