Well heres how I usually land.. On finals, Programme my course to the heading of the runway, switch to 'nav' and it aligns with my runway.. Deploy my flaps at my discretion, set spoilers, slow depending on wich aircraft im piloting, and then deploy gear.
(Meanwhile adjusting my altitude to follow papi)

Becuase I can't approach without being out of line with the runway and without being too high/low/fast/slow
Loc and APP rule XD They keep you on the right approach path assuming you have the Nav Radio's tuned...:8

Depending on what I fly and the lenth of the runway.. For Edinburgh I usually come in a 747, so I autobrake max.. glasgow usually 777 or 737 - 1-2. and everywhere else usually INTL's so 1.

Ewwwww at the A380 BA.
And you should use full screen view, this optimizes performance and gives better graphics - sort of.
