It isn't an abbreviation, just people got used to saying it, rather then have a happy birthday.
lol is an abbreviation.
It's like when you say "night night", or something like that. You're just saying what time of day it is twice, but people understand because you have come to learn what that means, not neccesserily an abbreviation.
Genius.

Happy Birthday![]()
An abbreviation means a shorter word that represents a longer word. Eg. don't is abbreviated from do not.It isn't an abbreviation, just people got used to saying it, rather then have a happy birthday.

Night night is different 'cause really I'd deem that as slang. But saying night once is obviously shortened from goodnight. Variations can also depend on dialect and accent. Eg: The becomes T'.
Well thanks to anyone who cares lol.
"Lol" is a contraction, and saying "happy birthday" makes sense on its own; it's an abbreviation of "have a happy birthday," or whatever is inferred.
Also, why did you call me Roboticevil?
You make a good point, Diligo. You win, sorry for sounding like a ****.

It's like me saying "happy car" you assume I mean your car is happy.
You should be saying "have a happy birthday", ****heads.

it's just common courtesy to say happy birthday ''/
would you rather everyone went around saying bad birthday, because I'm sure the majority wouldn't.
