Is it any good? Might go get the game tommorow. Youtube videos look very fun. Can you like make your own server, build your own map and then like mess around?

Well, I'd recommend getting SA:MP. It's really good if you enjoy the Single Player.
Creating your own server is fairly easy, but if you wish to implant features etc. You'd need to know "PAWN" scripting or you can download "Gamemodes" from the SA:MP Forum (Link) SA:MP has a variety of servers to play ranging from "Deathmatch" to "Role Play"

If you're starting up your own server, I'd recommend reading the SA:MP wiki also.
