I like it, it's different then other panels
(meaning I asume you read my tips =) )

Anyway it's nice,
Some improvement ideas:

• Add 1 color to it, but don't use it everywhere, just one theme color & use it as a finishing touch here & there (ex. for links & icons as >> or something)
• I wouldn't use a inner-shadow, I would use a very, VERY small dropshadow instead but I guesse that's just personal opinion

I did read your tips, and I spent ages trying to improve the thing I had, so I decided to redo a layout. Ill post one with some blue on.

I don't know what other people think,

but in my opinion the blue version makes the panel more.. "alive" looking.
In my opinion, it's better now

EDIT:
Maybe have your news title's ("Welcome to dePanel!") in the same blue & turn it bold ?
It would give a better view between articles if you have more then one
