It seems like you're showing off about this essay and how many pages you've done, since this is the question you've asked. Currently, I'm not doing it, but when I do I can imagine it being no longer than 5 pages. You also seem to be knocking off the "it's the quality, not the quantity" phrase, when it's totally true. You could be writing a total mess, repeating yourself endlessly (and in 12 pages, you probably have) and get, for instance, a D, with the reason most probably being that you have written too much and repeated yourself way beyond control. There should be limits for coursework.

    • How am I showing off to a Habbo online forum?
    • I have not knocked it off, I agree with it yet you seem to think any essay that is over 5 pages is automatically waffle? I think YOUR the one knocking things off.
    • I haven't repeated myself endlessly as she has checked through it and told me to add a few bits in, cut a few bits out and type it up.
    • You don't get marked down for writing too much.

When I had to do Romeo & Juliet I completed about 4/5 A4 pages and got a top mark, so don't be fooled with the whole quantity over quality thing because it's always quality>quantity.

    Right...
Undertaker, it's obvious your trying to look cool and much smarter than you actually are on 'HXFQ1!1!!' Whatever that means, i'm preusuming it's habboxforum your on about. You should give 'one' about the examiners, they determine your GCSE grades, and they'll be bored reading through a 12 page essay, as will your teacher having to go through twelve essays and will probably put "Too long". My english teacher advised me that I shouldn't go over 3000 words for my war poetry, and she said even that was a bit long. Yes, it's mainly your teachers marking and the examiners just double checking to see if they've done ok. I don't see how someone can do 12 pages on a Romeo and Juliet 12 pages, without going completely off task and topic and analysing the whole play rather than the specific essay question asked. You are showing of on a habbo forum, you make it out like you're way too cool for this forum, and keep degrading it and dismissing that your way too cool and trying to show off, then you add 'On habboxforum or habboforum' trying to make it sound like only weird geeks would do this, however, you're not too cool for this forum, you've made 6,000 and something posts and are on it constantly, your on the same level as it. For GCSE an essay over five pages is probably excesseive, of course at university you'll probably be doing essays over five pages. However I'll say it again, you've probably gone off the question, big time, which will degrade you if your 'waffling' on about something different to the essay question. I'm suprised your teacher hasn't asked you to cut it down a fair bit, it's beyond me on how someone can do 12 pages on a romeo and juliet GCSE essay question coursework, without going off topic to the essay question, yes I keep repeating myself about this, however it's the truth. You won't initaly get marked down for writing too much, however it may come that you've written too much, examiner gets slightly bored and you'll end up getting a worse mark. Of course the examiners are being paid, however they have tons to do and may get slightly bored of a 12 page essay. And yes, obviously your teacher isn't stupid, however may not be the best coursework marker out there.

I don't give a damn what type of forum this is; you're still showing off. No one actually cares about how much they write because the grade is more important. This leads me to believe you are trying to show off. What does education have to to with Habbo? Nothing, really, so stop trying to reinforce that stupid motion.
I'd consider anything more than around 5 pages waffle, actually. Are you going to stop me from this? No, of course not, because if it's possible to get a pleasing grade with around a quarter of what you have written, it seems like you're writing too much for the sake of QUANTITY. I assumed you had repeated yourself as 12 pages is just ridiculous. Examiners do mark down work for "waffling" and writing too much, too. This is not just for English, but for MFL aswell (possibly more).

You get an F for incorrectly using 'your' instead of 'you're', too.

    thanx,

    ryan x

You've probably fallen into the trap of retelling the entire story for 8+ pages imo. The examiners, after reading the entire 12 pages are going to remember that point alone, and probably mark you down for it.
