    Police can search your pockets...

You can refuse though, but that would lead to you being arrested, thus searched anyway..

One day people will realise that everything the police do is for our protection... you were inconvenienced maybe five minutes by being stopped, which isn't anything really when you consider that some young people may have been carrying dangerous items or substances that need to be sorted. I'm by no means a perfectly law-abiding citizen, but I have no beef with the police, and in fact respect them greatly.

Police are alright.. They do seem to do some pointless things sometimes though.

I don't really appreciate being inconvenienced for no reason though, especially when they say "section 44 of the terrorism act, we dont need a reason for searching you" that really annoyed me..

As far as I'm aware nothing properly sealed can be searched without warrant, such as the glove compartment of a car (if locked) or a zipped up section of a wallet. However, they could just take you in and search you at the station so usually doesn't help you much. Best bet if you're carrying green and don't want to get caught is to just put it in your sock, under the arch of your foot. Not too comfy but they likely won't bother searching that hard.

It's also illegal for them to ask you to remove your trainers/shoes and/or socks in a public place.
