I really say "ily" as a joke really, because I always think "I love you" has real meaning, you can't just throw it about aimlessly.

I see what you mean, ages and ages back, me and this girl who moved away from me stayed together but we only talked on MSN/in texts and say I sent her a text saying "I love you :] xxxxxx", she'd be like "ilu2". And I kinda thought she didn't mean it in the same way I meant it to her. Probably because of the insenscerity.
I guess, from that experiance, she only liked me as a mate but didn't have the guts to tell me she had gone off me straight away.
So yeah, she means it as mates.
i've been here for over 8 years and i don't know why

When I say "I Love You" I mean it, otherwise, using "text-talk". No.

well, if your not going out wiv them and u say i love you they think ur sayin it as a mate. My boy mates are always saying I love you to me and i say ILU2 but its because they mean it as mates (or at least i think they do lol)

As someone else said, ily sounds so half-assed. Only one person says 'ily' to me and that's an e-friend. If you're going to express your love through a text message, don't use text speak. It's so lazy.

What you do is meet her in real life and say "I love you" it's not hard WarezGirl.
