    Because I've done my best to get rid of them. I bet Kenneth sat and looked for like 10 mins trying to find a jagged edge.

    I'm not sure this one will go down well with you guys as you don't appreciate the blur as much as others elsewhere.

    Feel free though :}

    I agree, it could be better. There isn't much going on in this one.

    I would prefer it without the blur, like a Lear promotion image!

    Default The Know How Tutorial - Part 1

    Maybe this should be stickied, I don't know.

    Hi Guys. Samuel Millar here, I just thought I would type up this manual for you to get you going. I have used the PMDG 737 in this example, so other aircraft with FMC may not be greatly accurate to my steps.

    If you do not have a VATSIM ID yet, go to ' http://www.vatsim.net/prc ' & then follow the onscreen instructions.

    Now I'm guessing if you do not have a VATSIM ID etc, you will not have squawkbox. (SquawkBox for FS2004 & FSINN for FSX). You can find Squawkbox here, by going to. http://www.squawkbox.ca/downloads/ and clicking on one of the mirrored links.

    Okay, so decide your departure, and destination. Once you have decided, go to; http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/

    This is a route finding page, this will find a real world route for you to punch into your FMC. How? I'll explain later.

    Say you were doing; EGCC - EGPH. (Manchester to Edinburgh) On that website, where it says departure type in EGCC. And then do the same for the destination, except changing it to EGPH. As this is where you are heading to.

    Where it says en route altitude, put in there FL100 - FL200. This basically is finding a route between EGCC - EGPH with an altitude of 10,000ft - 20,000ft. Then click, find route.

    So you should get something coming up like this. 'EGCC SID POL N601 MARGO STAR EGPH' What this is basically saying is;

    Manchester Standard Instrument Departure Pole Hill N601 MARGO STAR Edinburgh.

    This is the route we will be using for your flight. (ONLY IF YOU ENTERED WHAT I PUT ABOVE INTO THE ROUTE FINDER WEBSITE) So we will highlight it, and copy it for now.

    Load up flight simulator.
    Load up your PMDG 737 Plane.
    Choose the time of day you wish.
    Set your weather to clear for now. (Once you load up squawkbox, this will override clear weather)
    Select your departure airport. Make sure you assign yourself to a stand, and NEVER start on an active runway. You may find yourself in a bit of bother with the controller .

    Then, once you have selected your departure airport, (which is EGCC Manchester) load up with the assigned stand you selected.

    Press 'ALT' on your keyboard, and scroll along to modules, then click on squawkbox. When you start it up for the first time, you may have to go through a rigmarole for setting up your sound and mic equipment etc. If you do not wish to use voice (which is probably not recommended for beginners) then just skip this. Eventually you will see a start button, click then, then click connect.

    Now that you have the connection window opened up you will need to enter the information (Your user and password) that you received in your email from the vatsim pilot resource center.

    Once you have typed in your user and password, it is recommended that you may want to save it, as it can be quite annoying going to your email all the time to get it. You will see an input box for aircraft, click on that, and then hit which ever aircraft you are flying. (Which is the Boeing 737-) You could be flying the 737-600/700/800/900) It is best to start with the Boeing 737-700 first though, as this aircraft handles quite well and is pretty responsive to your joystick movements. Once you have got everything filled out there, click ok. Now you will see an input field for callsign etc. I will give you steps later on how to import your FMC and panel onto a very good POSKY Boeing 737-700 Boeing Business Jet model, this way you won't use as much frames on the actual PMDG model itself. For now, put in the callsign 'VP-BRT' - (Victor Papa Bravo Romeo Tango) and then whatever details are left to be entered in, then click CONNECT!

    Congratulations, you have successfully connected to the VATSIM Servers!

    Part 2 coming soon! Part 2 will feature how to program your FMC.

    Part 3 will include how you may request clearence and what you should expect to be replied in return. (IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU DO NOT TRY AND TAKE OFF, WITHOUT REQUESTING CLEARENCE, NOR TALKING TO ATC WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT TO DO FROM PART 3 OF MY MANUAL).

    Part 4 will include charts etc, on helping you navigate your way around the airfield etc.

    Sit tight!

    I promise I won't let you down, and I will keep on with the tuts.

    Got the idea from flightsimworld.

    Where are you currently parked up, as of your last flight?

    I'm at Birmingham parked up in the Boeing 737-700 BBJ.
