All thoughts to the family though, poor souls.
If someone did kill him, then i hope GMP get these people, I liked the guy and I also like the force when they show GMP on traffic cops etc. I like watching Manchester's' Force then the others.

I can see that being a struggle against a group to be honest with you. GMP will be stunned at the moment, but SOCA will be on the case instantly. I have a feeling all SOCA teams will be on high alert for the people who did it. I bet they have a good idea of who it was already, because deaths/murders like these aren't just randomly caused. Any bets on a retalliation attack from a large Manchester gang, whose leader was jailed by GMP?

There's going to be some basis behind it, and I think GMP know it. For it to happen in such a popular walking area, but still isolated from the world, means that they (being the killers, if any) wanted to grab him when he was most vunerable, and unable to call for help. There's going to be fingerprints for sure.

See, this is what happens when a guy raised by two police officers, gets investigating. ~

    EDIT: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/m...er/6956273.stm

There's one motive, which isn't too long ago... Jumping to conclusions, but that's how to solve a crime really. GOD I should so be in CEOP lol.

Some say it was suicidal, who knows? A number of letters have been found to family and friends and few days before close friends and family have had worrying phone calls, hmm.

I really couldn't help myself when seeing the thread title thinking to myself 'PLEASE BE IAN BLAIR PLEASE BE IAN BLAIR' - I cannot stand that man at all, I understand it's not nice to wish death on anyone, but I'd genuinely be pleased if he was murdered. And there's nothing wrong with having an opinion on events...

Back on subject, I remember seeing the stun gun 'stunt' and thought it was rather impressive and a point well made. I doubt something suspicious happened, RIP.

Saddening though, really saddening.

My parents are both police officers, so they're going to be stunned too.
At present nothing is to state that they believe he has been murdered by anyone. As far as I know rescue attempts to get the body are or were still ongoing 2 hours ago due to the weather and it has resulted in climbers having to go down rather than any helicopter assisting.

It has shocked the force totally, I met the guy twice and he was really down to earth. The media also really liked him.

Camera crews were still outside our HQ when I left work at 9 so I assume they are doing some kind of news thing outside it on the 10'o'clock news.

Some people think it was suicide. I doubt it though - he had so many plans for the UK, it's such a shame !

People round and about are saying it wasn't Gooch however it was some guys gang who used to be a 'big man' in Gooch. That bloke supossibly helped nick him along with around £800,000 street value in drugs... however that's what people are saying around and about.... people being the MEN.

Jesus, Ant's famous. I think he has been murdered, but right now I'm not sure how or why they would do such a thing. I guess the cameras loved the guy like you said, so they've more or less lost a public relations god of the police. It's a real shame, since he sounds a down-to-earth guy by the way people talk about him, and the way he's done things for the better. A real police officer imo.

The press have published it as 'Suicide Mystery' but the second word really does give it away that they don't know the actual circumstances in which he died. Those worrying phone calls and letters may indicate he was being tracked by someone and he was that clever that he knew he was being tracked/hunted by someone. I guess they'll find out the full circumstances in a postmorteim. I thought of the perfect way to put this police force in disgrace if the killers (if any) meant business: Plant heroine into his blood. It sounds sick, especially at this time, but that would send the police hiarchy into real disrepute.

Gooch were actually the first people I expected. There was a raid back in August which imprisoned two leaders from Gooch, so put two and two together. There's a motive for you: Venegence. Also, on the topic of his 'suicide', notice how they haven't commented at all on how he killed himself, or with what he killed himself with. Interesting eh?

    Inquest starts tommorow apparently.
