You're wrong, I'm afraid. Microsoft is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation, so you wouldn't get far with that.

Most companies register their name as a trademark in order to avoid this.

Ok you are sort of right as microsoft made the fonts in the first place, but they made them free for anyone to use.

As i was saying i could make a company called microsoft, and it could be a cleaning company, or a building contractor as long as i dont start making computers or software under the name microsoft without permission there is no problems.

The link you supplied just shows what they have made and registered, every company does that, doesn't mean i cant you 'Microsoft' for my companys name aslong as i dont claim i made anything they have.

If i made a company and used 'Verdana' for example on my companys logo, microsoft can't come and shut me down becuase i used it and they made it, they made the font free for everyone to use.

And Darren, no problem, seems to me everyone on here thinks everything is ripping just becuase it looks like something else.

If a man from the UK made a doll, then someone from China (or wherever) made a doll very similar but has different clothes, or diffrent color eyes then yes people would say its very similar but they havent 'Ripped' his doll because they made it and it has diffrences.

If you made a company called Microsoft, no matter what you sell, you'll more than likely get a nice little letter from Microsoft, or a phone call, or an email, or a choo-choo train on a bike. You cannot make a company called 'Microsoft', since 'Microsoft' is a registered trademark of 'Microsoft Corporation'. [this means that, without written permission, you cannot use the name for advertising, branding, in a diminished mannor etc]

Yes it does.

That's not the same, since that font is released by Microsoft under a licence.

well today, i saw a vancalled DYSON. it was a house insulating company, not the hover. It depends on if the companies are TM and the name i think and who was set up first and if they had a TM.

say i set up a company called microsoft, and then the actual microsoft came along after me, i wuld be able to keep my name but no others would be able to set up as long as MS set up a TM.

You're a designer.. but... you can't design your logo... and I'm damn sure you didn't design the layout.. in fact I remember quite vividly, with the random clock. So no offence, but what exactly do you plan on doing with designing, if you don't design?
