Default Bus passengers in EU law 'farce'

Passengers across the UK have been hit by EU rules on working hours meant to protect drivers, bus companies say. Western Greyhound in south-west England has broken one route into three so that passengers have to change buses twice.
The rules on routes longer than 50km (30 miles) are too costly to implement and the result is a farce, it says.
But the European Commission says there is no problem elsewhere in Europe and the companies are trying to bypass laws which ensure drivers are not tired.

Under the EU drivers' hours rule, drivers on routes longer than 50km are not allowed to work more than nine hours a day because they need more rest.

Western Greyhound says that would be fine for companies operating large depots with a large number of drivers.
But, it argues, for smaller companies often with two or three drivers, longer routes have become impossible to operate.

This is stupid. Why are we letting another country decide our rules?

    1. Source.
    2. The EU isn't a country, it's a democratic union in which you elect EMPs.
    3. The EU was 'in control' before Tony Blair. (The Maastricht Treaty http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maastricht_Treaty was signed by the Conservatives in 1992)
    4. Yes it is ridiculous. Some lazy continental Europeans obviously thought this rule up.
    goodbye.

The EU is a load of donkey but nothing we can do about it now. At least we still have Stirling for now instead of the Euro.

If bus drivers are being tired after 1 hour of driving why are they bus drivers? An average route between my house and college is 1 hour 35 minutes. It's on a small cramped bus which gets packed to the rim as Stagecoach won't give us a bigger bus as we're not a large town.

Once the bus driver has arrived he has to do it all over again, then again and again. Then he swaps with another driver. If he got a break every hour we'd get nowhere.

Are you stupid seriously? Tony Blair was pro-eu and signed away our rebate which was secured by Maragret Thatcher. The Labour Party has always been for the EU because they all get top jobs when they are found out to be liers/cheats in British politics. Peter Mandelson, Tony Blair - both are unpopular disgraced politians whom have/are going to get top EU jobs.

Don't lecture me on being rude, who was the one who said HHGS is crap? - If you believe Tony Blair was a good politician then your in 'coo coo' land, firstly you thought he was against the EU and thought he was great because of that then I tell you he wasn't and he's still a great MP? ~ Tony Blair and his government took this country into debt, put taxes at bizzare levels leaving families struggling, took this country into an illegal, expensive war which has torn apart hundreds of thousands of families and destroyed a once stable country, he has handed more power over to the EU more than ever before, he has surrended our EU rebate and has let the spread of socialist political correctness take a firm grip on our country - Great job?, I think not.

But did you know what Ton Blair DID do? He stopped the conflict in Northern Ireland. And dya know how important that is? The IRA are no longer armed (or so they say) and we haven't been bombed by the IRA in years. I'd say that was an INCREDIBLE thing.
    goodbye.
