    yeh, id go with getting a new hard drive. they're cheaper, and there's less chance of you breaking your ps3

    Removing or replacing the HDD of the PS3 does not void warrantee as far as I know, there's even instructions on how to do it on the playstation website and in the manual, lol

    You'd have to format the drive though as I beleive the PS3 uses FAT32
