Default 360 Gets a wiimote style by end of year...

Imitation, they say, is the sincerest form of flattery. So Nintendo, prepare to be flattered if latest reports on plans up Microsoft's sleeve prove accurate.

MTV News is claiming to have received information from a developer that Microsoft is currently working on a controller for Xbox 360 that features Wii Remote functionality "and more", and that such a device could well be out before the end of 2008.

This is said to be a sketch of Microsoft's Wii Remote clone.

"The project has been in active development at Microsoft since last August, the source said", the report continues.

"Rare, the Microsoft-owned studio behind Xbox 360's launch first-person shooter Perfect Dark Zero and the upcoming instalment of the Banjo-Kazooie franchise, has been tasked with creating a unified interface and look for the controller. Rare has had trouble hitting its deadlines, according to the source."

The report adds that the source has said Rare is currently working on a version of Miis for Xbox 360 too.

Microsoft's made no secret of its desire to penetrate deep into the casual market, something that Nintendo has done with great success with both Wii and DS. Is a Wii Remote clone - if it does genuinely exist - the answer though...? If you can't beat them, join them, we guess...

If it doesn happen then no matter if it's a stolen idea or not it'll be better simply because a 360 is better than a Wii. I'm not a 360 fanboy btw (I don't have or even want one) it's just truth - originality doesn't matter, what matters is that something works as it should do and does it well.

Doubt it's real, even I could draw that, they never say who it was that gave them it just a "source" that was briefed by Microsoft, so it's not someone that works for microsoft just a developer that Microsoft may have contact with, I don't see this happening

Yeah, it must be. It looks asif a 5 year old whipped it up on paint, theres not even any legit blueprints and stuff, anyone could do that.

And why would they just copy the Wii? You'd think they'd make a pad with motion sensors built in like if you flick it up you jump, etc..

Also isn't it a bit late for April fools?!

April fools day was 10 days ago... And it looks ugly... They're just copying Nintendo to rival the PS3 really, if this is true, with the PS3's sixaxis controller (or whatever it is).

360 fanboy! None of the consoles are actually better than each other, they're nearly impossible to compare since they all have tottally different features and games. It's what you prefer.
