She lacks depth and emotion. She has a weak chest voice. How can you possibly say she's got the best voice you've ever heard? Haven't you heard someone like, Whitney Houston for example?

Of course I've heard of Whitney Houston, and I think Leona is better. Artists such as Whitney, Christina and Mariah all kill songs with the stupid vocal acrabats they all do.

I also compleatly disagree with your view that 'she lacks depth and emotion'. Have you listend to her cover of 'The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face' and 'Footprints in the Sand'. So emotional imo - she sings from the heart.

Leona's voice just isn't rich enough. I'd say it's unfair to compare her to Whitney, Mariah etc at this stage as they're so much further along in the industry and KNOW what they're doing. It's just when people say Leona is better despite her sounding like a 12 year old pitchy boy that it annoys me.

Oh HELL no. Nobody 'disses' Whitney and Mariah then gets away with it. Leona isn't better than Mariah and Whitney, the fact that they can do these 'vocal acrobats' makes it obvious that their range is wider (well, on some levels anyway.)

I don't think Susie meant emotion in that sense, she means as a performer - you can show deep emotion with your vocals, not just with the lyrics. Whitney and Mariah are powerhouses when it comes to singing and the world recognises both of them for their trademark voices/vocals. Same goes for legendary vocalists such as Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Celine Dion and Diana Ross to name a few.

Leona isn't better than Whitney or Mariah, sorry to burst your bubble.

^ Yeah, you settle for talking/screeching rather than singing.

Even without the riffs she has an incredibly powerful voice and a wide vocal range.

Seriously I'm not here to say Leona is better than all these greats like Mariah and Whitney but I find it shocking when someone can say she lacks depth and emotion in her voice, if you listen to her album it has warmth and emotion in all of her songs.

Leona can give a bit of the vocal acrobatics, if you listen to some her live performances but she doesn't need to do them all the time and neither does Whitney and Mariah which they don't do them all the time.

Another thing is Leona isn't right up there with Whitney and Mariah cus she has only been doing this for a few years, Mariah didn't start in the 1990s and everyone hailed her and called her the greatest singer in the world she took time and worked hard, the same for Whitney, so I 100% agree that she isn't up there with those legends yet but I do disagree when people say she will never be up there because she could be one day cus she has talent.

& Susie Dent, having a magnificant head or chest voice doesn't make you a great singer, it's technique, it's like Whitney her head voice doesn't have a massive range meaning she can't hit some of the notes Mariah/Leona can but she sure has a magnificant chest voice which blows people away which again proves it is technique more than anything.

So really what I am saying is that people need to give Leona more of a chance :X she is 23 and has only been doing this for a few years, in thirty years time we could be going "OMG have you head [insert name here], she is the new Leona/Mariah/Whitney!".
