If they blow it up, you will have the debris raining down, doing massive damage. You cant destroy atseroids you have to hit it with something big to just knock it off course slightly so it will miss Earth and go hit mars or summin

Judging by the weight and speed of the asteroid, I am fairly certain that the asteroid would just mow down the satellite. Plus the 'if' seems like a really big 'IF' to me... Quite funny he corrected NASA though
In space theres no mass or weight. You could lift the astroid up if it was still.
A touch on the satelite would move it but they can move the satelite.

it depends what type of astroid it is.. sometimes yes that would work but there is a type of astroid which would just absorb the impact from a nuke like a sponge.
I’ll be a story in your head, but that’s okay, because we’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best. A daft old man who stole a magic box and ran away. Did I ever tell you that I stole it? Well, I borrowed it. I always meant to take it back. Oh, that box, Amy, you’ll dream about that box. It’ll never leave you. Big and little at the same time. Brand-new and ancient and the bluest blue ever. And the times we had, eh? Would had…Never had. In your dreams, they’ll still be there. The Doctor and Amy Pond and the days that never came.
