Depends, as there is a debate on the proper medical definition of death. Many say it's when you're brain stops functioning, although some people live like this with others having to everything for them while they DO have a beating heart and functional organs. Other medical experts define it as the stop of your heart beat for x amount of seconds (not 100% sure how long) and that's how some people die 4 or 5 times but remain alive. They are medically defined as dead, but return and continue to live their lives as usual.
