Well, if she reacts badly and tries to stop you, it would be harder for you to get away with it... She could start looking in your room for cigarettes, smelling your breath, etc... It's not exactly the most ethical suggestion, but honestly I wouldn't tell her unless you know she'll be okay with it, which I assume she wouldn't, considering you posted this thread. I didn't tell my mother until I was about 16 I think.

wait till your 18 to tell her, she can't stop you. i told my mum a few months ago and she gave me a total lecture about how her best friend has lung cancer, and then she left it, but i have to smoke out in the back garden, she loves seeing me suffer when the weather is bad.
