I'd defanatelygo with building a custom PC if you can. I know some of the sites you can order all the parts and even get them to install components like the motherboard and the CPU. You can save a couple of hundred $ by doing so.

I just built a:

Core 2 Quad
4GB RAM
500GB HDD
Antec Gaming Case

and it came to £540 overall, and that was without a monitor, keyboard/mice, graphics card and software.

Cant believe you paid £540 for a poverty spec PC without Monitor,keyboard, gfx card and speakers :eusa_wall

Only paid £55 more in total for:
Core 2 Extreme - QX9650
Basic Case - who needs some fancy case...dont do anything
4gb of Geil ram
NVidia 9600GT
Basic 600w PSU
250gb Boot Drive
750gb Drive for storage
Vista & Office Pre-Installed
Basic Keyboard/Mouse
Philips Widescreen Keyboard

Wouldnt listen to this matey...he seems to just know how to get ripped off!
Try eBaying a PC base system, should be able to get a similar spec as mine for about £450 without monitor etc

Basic 600w PSU

Better cases offer better cooling features and are just generally better for airflow. A basic (generic by the sounds of things) PSU is not a good idea in a high end system.

That processor is worth £630 and performs worse than my Quad which cost £150

Haha you got ripped off, just for a processor ram hdd and the 900 I assume, should come to no more than £400 if that

Quad is like £110, 4GB ram is like ~100, HDD is about ~50-70, Case is something like £70 the last time I checked, could be wrong.

Think you need to include a mobo as well but still lol.

Ok, I've upped the case so now the PSU is 550W.
Total cost including keyboard, monitor, graphics card and mouse is - £560.12
The graphics card isn't the best, but it'll do - nVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

Personally I wouldn't ever use a PSU that came with a case.
