    Default Platoon

Brilliant war film, my favourite war film actually.
Directed & Written By Oliver Stone.

    Anyone else see it?

I've seen it, But I wouldn't say it was one of my favourite war films.

As cliche as it may sound I like Behind Enemy Lines and Schindlers List (Aren't the old ones the best?)
    PM me for help.

    :S

Behind Enemy Lines was 2001 and Spielberg's 'List is early '90s, Platoon is older than both. Although Schindler's List is set in a time of war it differs from BHL and Platoon as it isn't a military drama. In my mind, Stone's and Spielberg's films respectively cannot be compared as they are of two different sub-genres of the war picture, but both greatly surpass Behind Enemy Lines.

Any films can be compared, they're all about war and it was my opinion. Acepted you may not aggree with it theres no need to flame it.

I realise that Platoon is older, I was making the point old films about war beat all the modern films about war.

I was not, and I apologise if it seemed like that? I was drawing my own opinion of how I feel about the three films respectively, not rubbishing your post.

I prefer Enemy at the Gates and Black Hawk Down, two awesome war films.

Jarhead is pretty good too, but I doubt that counts as a war film?

Jarhead would be classed as a war film, but has its connotative links with various military sub-genres. It was an enjoyable, as was Black Hawk Down.

Nah, I really enjoyed Platoon, I can agree with BHD, but nothing can top it for me.
