    Default Chipset madness!

Hey guys long time no post,

First off please don't reply if you don't know what your talking about. (No offense meant by that.)

Currently shopping to build another computer, and i've been outa the game for two years now since the last one I build was good enough to last me that long.

I'm currently looking at the Intel CPU Core 2 Quad's and want a nice mobo to complement the chips, with optimum OC'ing in mind and a price range of £120 - £170. But I am baffled by all these new chip sets I see around me:

    X48
    X38
    P45/P43
    P31
    P35
    nForce 7
    nForce 6
    and so on...

Would / could anyone kindly explain what mobo's I should be looking at please.

    Thanks a bunch,
    Jimi

All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. We are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectivly. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves.

Well, The P35 chipsets are best for the Q6600 and overclocking, from my experiance and MANY MANY others. Nvidia chipsets are crap for overclocking.

For your price range, you could get a very decent motherboard, look at the ASUS AI Lifestyle range.

X38 is even better than P35, however I can't justify the price

Go with an Intel chipset rather than nVIDIA. Something like P35.

P35 is a nice chipset, they can be picked up cheap but still are decent overclockers
