Default Buying a new Computer (Problems, too).

I'm interested in buying the Alienware Aurora. I like the look, the fact that I can buy:

    • 1 Tetrabyte Hard-Drive at 7,200RPM
    • Acoustic Dampening (Almost Soundless Computer)
    • Liquid Cooling Engine
    • Superclocked 512 MB NVIDIA Graphics Processor
    • 4 GB of RAM
    • XP Professional Included

(I went for the XP Because all the features it listed for Vista over XP can be mimicked or reproduced)

I love how it sounds and I've tested a similar one at a freinds house and it's amazingly fast.

    Should I get it?

(The Pricetag is at well over 2 Grand.)

Also, does anyone know if they actually ship to the UK and if it costs extra?

Only get an Alienware if you literally have money to burn. They are extremely overpriced and you are paying for the badge.

For £2000 you could get a far better PC elsewhere of custoom build something much better.

I love the look of them mostly. But I've checked again, it's not over 2 grand, it's exactly 1273.76 pounds.

    >still not sure<.

And the benefits of using Vista cannot in anyway, be mimicked on XP. But seriously, you could either custom build or get an XPS for cheaper or better specs.

You haven't given details of the processor and graphics card. It sounds like you've set your mind on having an Alienware because they look good. If you want one, get one, but remember you can get far better spec for the same money if you build it yourself. With Alienware you probably get all this stupid trial software installed with it as well. Custom build computers are always the best kind.

Drivers are very well supported on XP, that's about the one good thing about XP compared to Vista.

I'm sure with that price-range you can get a very nice case anyway, and you'd just be stupid to buy XP especially if you can afford Vista with ease.

Alienware = Awful and waste of money

Also if shipping from US, it will cost well over £100 It did when I ordered a computer.

I have a XPS M1730 from Dell. It was worth it. I am now thinking of ordering the Acer Aspire Predator.
