I don't have a problem if people are using a copy from their old PC or a cracked copy, but if they are buying it brand new then it's just a waste

The OS would need reactivating when it detects a new Mobo, basically seeing it as a new PC with an old license, then you can ring up MS say you had a hardware failure and they believe you.
