Those posts are usually made by 9 yr olds on this forum, who think theyre awesome cos they can say that on the internet. The mature members of the forum don't act this way, and do all they can to help.
I'm not here to prove it, there's clear evidence on the that section. And I know there are indeed people who know what they're on about and direct them to helpful sources, but those posts are drowned by so many posts such as "Don't be so selfish" and "You're just a pathetic emo"
Then stop those kind of threads completely
Its just a matter that needs to be moderated carefully, because sometimes people don't know where else to turn.

Very True, and like I said, even close moderation would help.

Yeah I've been trying to say this for a while now, the forum is not suited to threads like this as it's a teenagers forum not a help forum. The maturity in some of them threads is ridiculous and the moderation is PISS POOR.
I was reading through a large suicide thread in Teen help last Friday, I imagine this thread is aimed at that, one of the replies was something about 'I can help you tie the knot on the noose', after 6 days the post was still there, I then reported it early in the morning and it was cleared up by a smod straight away.
The rules are inadequate to sort out the maturity of these threads as the 'Inappropriate posting' is hardly used. The Moderator's don't give enough protection in these threads either, the threads should be checked more frequently and vigorously if your going to continue allowing these threads.
You don't have to be a professional to help other people who are feeling depressed and calling out for help by saying words like "suicide." All it takes is a keen ear and a good sense of reasoning to help these people along the way. You won't go visit a a professional when your gran has just died, you'll discuss it with friends who are just as helpful, if not more helpful than someone who doesn't know, but only knows your problem. All that needs to be done is a few moderators in this forum and a big, bold message in the description saying "HELPFUL REPLIES ONLY." I'm not entirely sure what use the Teen Forum is anyway, surely the whole forum is for teens?!

I think that the rule 'talking about lovemaking is not allowed on the forum' should be taken out because essentially this is one of the biggest problems that teens face :S.
No it should be implemented more often. I've never once seen a mature thread about genitalia or sex be warned with that rule. It's only usually enforced when people are going into great detail or it's unnecessary to talk about it, it should be used more often to tackle immaturity.
I agree with this, becuase while this may or may not may not be true some people give narrow minded and outragous replys which can hurt people even if it's not true, so something does need to be done. While it can help a lot to talk to people your age about problems you have during your teenage years, I seriously think there needs to be something drastically done about certain threads in the Teen Life section.
There are kids discussing the concept of suicide, and other kids who don't understand such matters, and give them hurtful and dangerous replies.
This problem is real as we all know, and talking to professionals is always better than talking to random people we don't know. Many professional psychiatrists and councilors even tell people not to discuss such personal matters on these sort of forums.
I seriously think these threads need to be more closely moderated or simply removed and stopped.
Also some on the forum members have gone through this, and have had friends who have acutually killed themself/died. And it might get them upset & anoyed that things like this are going on![]()
I'm on about mature discussion about sex, not the "bone her", "screw her" replies that you usually get on this forum, that should be made against the rules but mature discussion about it shouldn't. It's part of puberty which happens in a persons teens, which is the primary audience of this website. No it should be implemented more often. The rule needs to be re-written because at the moment, it's outlawing all sexual discussion.
I think that's the nub of it, helpful replies only, is what's needed. I've seen replies that show no compassion or understanding whatsoever. Mocking someone who is low in spirit for whatever reason isn't helping at all. It can take courage to make a thread asking for help or advice, so better moderation is a must in my opinion. You don't have to be a professional to help other people who are feeling depressed and calling out for help by saying words like "suicide." It's the quality of your posts that count, not the quantity!
