EMA is great.. there is no harm in this. The setup is a bit messed up though as mitch said.

I get EMA but my mum only earns between 6-7k. Which is next to nothing.
or you could get jobs n stop getting ema like the hard-working people like me![]()
my dad is self employed and only got 12.5k last year, so yay 30quid a week for me![]()
I hate it when people moan about 'only getting £10' EMA and stuff like that. I go to college every day and receieve the same amount of stuff from my parents as some of my friends on EMA so why don't I qualify to get it? Why should some people get £30 a week for doing nothing, when for most people my age, that is 6 hours work.
And why should children with divorced parents receieve it? Surely the mum and dad should be financially supporting the child anyway.

I've been looking for a job for the past month, or two and no luck. So "getting a job" is easier then it actually is.
My dad has to pay the child maintenance weekly to my mum due to they were never married he lives miles away with his own family he doesn't support me nor my mum only the CM which he must do.I hate it when people moan about 'only getting £10' EMA and stuff like that. So £30 EMA makes a hell of a difference on my bus tickets to town and back. Although i dont agree with some bonus we get for summer holidays.
It's completely unfair.
I've always thought this and will continue to say it - People who don't get EMA are just jelous and bitter about it. My EMA payments have ended now, and am I going to be annoyed at no longer getting an extra £40 a month? You bet I am. However, I'll learn to live with it, something most people who don't get EMA can't seem to do.
Oh, and PaulMacc, you get £4.90 for working at Tesco (I know, I work there)
