Default Underage Festival Live - Bombay Bicycle Club

Get the latest news LIVE and EXCLUSIVE from the Underage Festival. In this article, we catch up with Bombay Bicycle Club!
The latest news from Underage Festival has been delivered from our team of reporters who are there, LIVE at the event.
We pounced on the artists and bands as they came off stage and asked them a selection of questions, as well as taking some photos!
Here, in the third of our live reports, we talk to Bombay Bicycle Club.
You've just come off stage - how was it?
Well we just came back from a bus promo session. Two of us playing acoustic.. while packed out with kids, which was mad- girls are intimidating.. but it was good. It's great playing to an underage crowd because they go wild! We are still 18 and so can go around and mingle, which most can’t
How would you describe your performance? - for those who did not hear it.
We are playing mostly old stuff. The ones people know that are rocky and can jump around, but we are also playing our new single which was out Monday (shameful plug!) But it will be good to see people’s reaction.
Did you have any surprises planned on stage?
Well nothing that’s absolutely crazy, but maybe some crazy hats and a hula skirt… perhaps even with nothing underneath to be real crazy? Nah, nothing too mad- we left that for Reading this year.
How did you all meet and form the band?
All came out of school, as we were all in the same class. We were asked to play at an assembly at school and formed a band for that. Then we wrote some tunes and thought they were good, so carried on. At 16 we won a competition to play at V festival and now we are 18 and here!
How long have you been on tour?
We are on tour for all of August.. it’s been relentless, but good fun. Now we can do it full time as we are out of school. So we are doing the festivals and will start recording our album in September.
    Who is your biggest idol?
Jamie’s dad who has been a massive help getting us here today. We don’t really have any bands that we all like, but we listen to nerdier music, rather than pop music. I guess our collective motto is beer and girls… perhaps chicken as well- does that help? We are from north London, but the UK indie has not inspired us- we listen to more US and CA indie.
    Do you like cheese?
We all like cheese, but different types. I like goats cheese because it doesn’t make me feel bad afterwards.
    Ever heard of Habbo before?
(some nod)…. Yea, but never got round to signing up. My friends all played it though.
Images (left to right): Things get hectic in the Habbo DJ tent as it fast becomes THE place to be at UAF, "the calm before the storm" - the Habbo DJ tent before gates opened, someone trying to be clever with a camera... but hang on! Is that a Habbo Staff I see?
