Is 2008 the year of the split?

With the recent news that Be Your Own Pet will split after their last four shows, which was a bit of shock to me, is 2008 the year of the split? Along with BYOP, these bands have also announced their splits this year:

blur (probably)
The Chalets
Jakobínarína
Mumm-Ra
Bolt Action Five
I Was A Cub Scout
Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames

There's probably more I missed, but for 8 bands to announce that they've split, and also all in the same year seems a bit too coincedental for my liking

I didn't know Mumm-Ra had, BYOP and IWACS.

IWACS didn't make any money so they all had to go and get jobs.

Blur split years ago and then just got back together because Gorillaz worked I thought... Mumm-Ra is my mate's cousin's band apparently but don't care 'cause it's not my kind of music lol, dunno who the rest are but I'm guessing crap indie bands
