    Default Getting a new PC

Hey, when my birthday comes along, I'm getting some money towards a computer. I've got about £500 to spend.

I've had a look at a few sites, but the best I could find is the Parkard Bell iMedia.

    Here are the stats:

    • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor
    • (2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB Cache)
    • Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
    • 3GB Memory
    • 500GB Hard Drive
    • Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD Re-Writer
    • 256MB nVidia GeForce 7050MB Graphics
    • 4 USB Connections
    • 18-In-1 Card Reader
    • 20" Widescreen TFT Monitor

Is that alright? I'm not a gaming person, so I don't mind that graphics card.

If anyone could reccomend me any other Desktop's please post them

PS: Don't go saying I need to build one, I realy don't feel like it.

    Thanks,
    Jason.

He did say he doesn't feel like building him self one.

Although, I'm sure that system will do you fine for you. Have you tried other companies such as Dell, Acer, HP?

I have a packard bell iPower and its not bad, the only thing I'd say against it is that their hard drive has some weird thing that only lets you reinstall windows with the master DVDs they provide, which is all well and good except it gets in the way of reinstalling windows when you DO want to use the Master DVDs and you end up with a very large paperweight. Because of this, you also can't install linux on it.

Apart from that I have no complaints though, good luck

I know he said he doesn't feel like it, but what's 150 quid to a tiny bit of work?

Cheers for the reccomendations. I had a look at the dell ones and the best I could find for my money was the 560s I think it was. Aparrently it's loud so I decided not to go for that. I'll have a look at hp now.

Edit: Just had a look at the HP website and they all seem to use AMD processors, which I do not want.

For £30 more you can have 4GB RAM here, it is an ATI Graphics card but I imagine it's slightly better

I thought some issuses occur between nVidia cards and Vista Home Premium, or is that just me being paranoid about Vista always being incompatible for everything? >_>
