Yeah I have it on Windows XP downstairs.

Like he said remove the US, but change to England Normal.

There are a few english ones.

Or check keyboard settings.

I had this, annoyed me for ages

Control panal > Regional and language > regional and language options > Language tab > Click details > change to england and if there is a US on there, remove it

Then you format or something it restores default settings, including setting the keyboard options, mostly a US keyboard.

On American keyboards the @ is above the two and the " is where our @ symbol is..

If you reinstall Windows you can change the keyboard settings in the initial setup.

You can also go on to control panel -> Regional and Language Options then make sure everything is set to United Kingdom and click 'apply'!
