but her friends will tell her and what if she doesnt like me? she might not even want to be friends with me... some girls are like that. i know im not losing anything since im not even with her yet (if i ever do get with her), but i just dont know...

Common sense FAIL. I'm sure she does like you and you obvs like her, and about you saying what if she doesnt etc, what if she does? Asking her and having her say no is better than not knowing what would have happened at all. It is aslo good to know that people look @ you differently and, proven fact here, find you more attractive if they know you find them attractive.
