You talking about Shimon? It's not explained, so I guess it's up to the viewer. He probably felt he didn't need to pilot Gurren Lagann or participate anymore. What I wanna know is what happened to his eye and where he got that massive core drill. I assume he said he'd leave it to Rossiu because he trusts him and because he is a capable leader?

Ending was epic, but sad. Nia dissapeared.
Simon left because he won the battle, and peace was restored for humans.
Rossiu redeemed himself (but I hate him still.) and he went on his own path.

Who cares about Nia, she freaks me out. Kamina's death will always be the saddest, and the fact that Yoko and Shimon went and left the team they founded and their friends!
