At the end of the day they're getting welcome to the forum, I don't see how it would be annoying.

Sorry I just realised I never answered the original question
I think it was left there so people can go through and laugh at the answers but I've never fully understood why tbh, I can't imagine many people do

Well as far as I'm aware the forum has to be there for everyone's post count to stay alive, if it was deleted everything else would go. Therefore as it can't be deleted it does no harm in public view.
