Default My review of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

For those of you who do not read Harry Potter, or who think it is simply for the "nerdy, geeky" type's then laugh at yourselves and smack your face until raw!

This is my review over a book which took me fourteen hours today to read, I stopped only for bathroom breaks, a quick dinner and to get drinks from my kitchen.

This book in the beginning lets us understand far more about what actually was happening outside of Harry's usual regime at Hogwarts, this book is more of a psychological adventure rather than a wholesome story. We find out alot about different peoples backgrounds, how they grew up to what they became to be. The biggest indepth look at someone was obviously Tom 'Marvolo' Riddle otherwise known as Lord Voldemort, this book takes us to his past, how his Uncle and Great Uncle were the last of an evil and violent family, How their only female kin ran off after bewitching a muggle and then when he found out what she was left her leaving her to give birth to Tom and shortly dying afterwards.

It shows how he was mistreated in the orphanage, and even at the youngest stages of life how evil he would grow to become, terrorising young children, murdering their pets etc. This helps us understand just a little bit better why he is as evil as he is in Harry's time, How he has the mental stamina to pursue and continue doing what he does, for his beliefs mainly which we all can relate to eg. The islamic militant group's fighting for thier beliefs. There was so much emotional detail in this book that was not in the others, like Harry realising he was in love with someone, the various successful and failed relationships, not all the emotion was good though as the 3 main young heroes (Harry, Ron and Hermione) bickered many times perhaps from the strain of the inevitable horror that would block their path in life at some stage.

Everyone in HBP has matured greatly and I love it for the fact that it is no longer filling us in as it were, there is a war going on in this book and we are transported into that war, its like our society today; When a time comes for good and evil you must choose a side to fight on. The plot twists in this are absolutely astounding, I never thought a single human mind could come up with such things, I realise now why J.K Rowling takes so many years for her next installment, I found this one to be absolutely flawless all the pieces fit together like a wondrous jigsaw and the question for me now is whether I can wait for the next one to come :p

For anyone who has not read any of the Harry Potter books I really stress that you give them a try, even if you dont like to read you can purchase audio tapes which you can listen to at your own leisure.

For anyone who does read Harry Potter and hasnt read HBP yet I wont spoil for it for you, I couldnt nor wouldnt even think about spoiling this for someone
but I'll just say that the final twist, the final swing of the axe is one to have any hardcore potter fan like myself breathless. (Also, the Half-Blood Prince is someone I never even began to think of before I read the book)

I expect for the next book when Harry "comes of age" that he will now be the icon or leader of the wizarding world, I expect him to die in the final book but also Voldemort to die as neither can live while the other can, I think Harry while die killing Voldemort. I also expect the final installment to be the largest if not second largest book, certainly longer than HBP so I can only surf J.K's personal site for hints in the future for a release date and I'll be checking Mugglenet of course but I really hope you all enjoy the book as much as I have, please leave your comments below!
