The shivering newborn girl was found in the Kempston area of Bedford by a group of teenage boys.
She was wrapped in a pink blanket and still breathing when they discovered her at Daubeney Middle School at lunchtime today.
According to reports, the three boys picked her up and ran to a nearby hospital to get help.
A police spokeswoman said the child was safe and well thanks to the lads' "quick and speedy efforts".
Bedfordshire Police are concerned for the welfare of the mother and they are appealing for her to get in touch

I feel sorry for the baby and I know I shouldn't joke about it but ***** left the forum, he lives in Bedfordshire, he has probably done this cruel thing to make him feel good about the people who made him feel bad
