    Default World news section

In the world news section its getting really annoying where people go onto bbc news or something, copy and paste the article and then post the link. Without there view at all! They dont even say anything about it other then it happend! I read the threads for peoples opinions not a quote and link. Is there anything you can do about this?

Sadly, I don't think there's anything within the rules that say they can't. I know it's a bit disappointing, but maybe from then pasting that article people do create a reasonable discussion. It's not all that bad either, as you could conveniently read what the story is all about .

They don't need to post a view if they post a link/quote then its bringing attention to the article, its same as habbo news they don't have to post their views on a new advertisement or whatever crap they post in there.

A lot of the time though it does create a discussion between other members and the person who posted will contribute more to the thread. I don't think it's really too much of a problem.

The fact that they thought it interesting enough to post it is kinda an opinion in itself

Yeah, I agree with Jess and Alex. Its kind of being a bearer of news so others are aware and can then post their opinion. I don't think I've ever seen a thread in there that hasn't sparked off a discussion that's related.

Indeed but this is not often the case, it's rarely interesting news, it's just boring stuff which they don't understand or some crazy american story which is very fabricated.

The World News section has never been the same since Undertaker was banned, he created lots of very constructive arguments and created threads on Politics and aired his views well. Although he didn't get on with many people and had particularly 'odd views', he was easily the life behind that section and frankly if I ever want to discuss serious news these days I just use UK Youth parliament forums.

I agree with Corporal that there's no use in posting just a link, it isn't a very complexed opinion and the right to post just URLs can and has been abused. If this was needed, then you'd create a BBC News feed and robots could do it more efficiently.

how many articles do you think are posted on here a day?

how many articles do you think are published on BBC a day?

I'm sure there'll be ALOT more on BBC per day than posted on here.

Putting a BBC feed or something would effectively kill the world news section imho.
