In total media xtreme, I can't select the Hauppauge as a source because it is being used bya nother application.
I've tried a few things, any other help?

Sorry for double but here is what comes up when I attempt to choose it as source:
the device is not available or being used by another application

It's probably opened in another program, if not restart your computer it should then open in the program you want it to.
That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it cause we consider these minutes golden.

When you are using Total MediaExtreme do you have any editing programs open? If so close them.
Has it ever worked and have you installed the drivers correctly?

i installed drivers with no problems, editing programs such as? i have programs like limewire and msn open - but upon ending the processes; no joy.

Well I use Pinnacle Studio 12 to edit my files, and when I leave it open sometimes I get that message because Pinnacle is also able to capture from it.
