I'd just pretend I never saw it, and leave it at where I found it. But then again, it's £500, so it's safer to hand over to the police. I can never spend it though, guilt.

I dont know, I would think about it a lot, but in the end I think I'd take it to the police. Just like Alkaz said, it could be someones bills that they worked really hard for, on the other hand it could be some rich kids spending money, but either way its not mine, so I'd give it to the police most likely. Idk if they do this in the UK but here, if its not claimed in like 30 days, than you get to keep it.
Spend it on iTunes and other things easily illegally downloaded but I prefer to purchase them.
I'd like to lie and say I wouldn't spend it, but in all honesty if it was just an envelope with all that money in what is the likelihood of you or the police being able to trace it back to the person it belongs to? So to be completely honest I would spend it. That's not to say I'm a bad person, I found a purse with a considerable sum of money in it and obviously this woman's driving licence etc, and I handed it in to the school's police officer. She was extremely thankful and it made me feel good. However I think there is a difference between a random envelope and a purse.

I've lost about £200 over the years and I've seen none of it back so I'd keep it and spend it. I couldn't care less, what comes around goes around.
spend it all, as if you'd give it in the person shoudent have lost it in public in the first place.
so many shades of white
keep it and spend some of it on things i NEED!!![]()
lol well obviously they shouldnt have but everyone makes mistakes. thats like saying if someone trips going down the stairs saying "well ya shouldnt have fallen down the stairs" lol. you can apply that to anything, thats kinda dumb logic tbh.
and yeah, like said above, its not like police go looking for the person it belongs to. they keep it until someone claims it, and if no one does, the person who turned it in keeps it. that sounds like the best situation, to me.
I would def spend and save it, if someone dosnt look after 500 quid then its there own fault.
