    Default Linux on new PC

I'm planning to put Linux on my old PC, as I've heard it's a lot better.

Could someone tell me the best OS there is to use on it and why.

It's on 512mb of RAM and has a 80GB HardDrive.

Also, is there a way I can get it?

    Thanks in advance,
    Sam

That's why I'm going to get it. To start learning.

It's not going to be my primary PC, hence I emphasised 'old PC'.

    Fedora/Ubuntu

Fedora you download not sure about disk
Ubuntu you download but can request a disk (which can take a month or so to ship as its free)

Yep, I requested Ubunto earlier, with guidance from another friend.

    Thanks, +Rep.

    Edit: I'll spread.

I've found that Ubuntu live disks come within 2 weeks usually

Fedora 10 is real sexy like at the moment. I give it the thumbs up.
