On bebo/myspace/facebook add people from your school/college/workplace and just send a comment like "Hey, how are you?". Join a football team or whatever sports interest you? Go to a library club and talk with people there about what books you enjoy?

I'm sure you have Habbo friends - its almost alike.

Edit: I only have one friend and I love her big time. But in my position I don't really get to make friends in "real life". I'm a "pig" or a "screw". I usually say I'm a computer technician but they always find out so its useless.
