    Default Laptop Problem

Hi, my girlfriend has a HP G7000 laptop and I re-installed windows vista for her the other week (coz she broke it or something.) Anyway, on the laptop there is a button which turns the wireless internet on/off (No.2 in the below picture.)

When the wireless internet is activated it should turn blue, but instead the button is red. I pressed it and held the button down etc and retsrated a few times, but it won't turn blue. Because of this when you go to the "connect to a network" window, no networks are showing.
I tried reinstalling the wireless drivers numberous times. Is there a fix for this instead of taking it back to the shop/sending it off to HP?

    Thanks.
