Default Windows Server 2003 - Password protect a share?

As the title says, how could I make it so you have to enter a username and password to enter a shared folder on W2k3?

    Thank you :]

Use the ACLs on the folder that is shared to specfiy what users you want to be able to access it. Delete everyone else (Recommend you disable inheritence on the ACLs)

If you are using active directory then it will automatically give them access if they are logged in using AD and have access to the folder.

Otherwise if you are using local users you can create users and then it will prompt you to enter a username and password when you try to access the folder.

To disable inheritence on the folder:

(Uncheck it /\) Check `Replace permission entries on all child objects.." to apply the same security options to all folders/files in it if you already have files/folders within the share.

Then delete everyone else (Recommend you keep system, creator owner and administrators) and add who you want to be able to access it.
