because if you hadn't noticed the drink & drive death rates or maybe the after affect of having 12 cans a night.
this idea is to stop people buying so much alchy and doing something useful.

And if it was them people they were targetting they wouldnt get very far, if they were having 12 cans everyday nothing would stop them having there 12 cans. The only people who it is going to effect is the sensible people who only have the odd pint or glass or wine which will put them all which will probably result in another increase in taxes.

I feel sorry for the rich people having to go out of pocket to fix the UK when the government and other people broke it. Not only that, but I imagine the high taxes on the rich are going to scare away businesses. Someone or something said a while ago that the UK was attractive to businesses, these ideas seem to make it unattractive.

That, as all the other people have said, is a cover up as per usual to put up our taxes. They do it with everything and will continue to do so whilst in power.

To be fair, the idea has nothing to do with that. It's to do with getting more money from tax.

Again, I am in 100% agreement with you, its finally nice to see people on this forum seeing sense.

How am I putting my foot in my mouth, we know the way to get out of this debt is to cut down spending and cut red tape in government departments along with a whole host of other things such as controlled immigration. To get out of the recession which in turn means more jobs which means more taxes being paid is simple, get the banks lending again to support struggling businesses at the moment who are having to lay off staff to survive as they cannot get the loans needed to fund new projects/pay for materials. If you do that, jobs will start re-opening and the recession will disappear rather quickly.
